Mountain Station Clean-up
In
preparation for Montrose
in May, volunteers are needed to help MPHDA
Trustees spruce up Mountain Station (corner of Vose and Montrose
Avenues). Please bring rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, a good
pair of
work gloves and help us clean-up. Anyone interested in
volunteering,

Montrose in May 2008 - Historic House Tour
Montrose
Park Historic District Association is proud to host the 12th
Montrose
in May historic house tour – our signature event. Featuring six outstanding
examples of classic
architectural style from Victorian to Georgian to Colonial Revival,
this year’s
tour homes will be open from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm, and several
will offer musical entertainment.
The tour is
self-guided and originates from Mountain Station at the corner of Vose
and Montrose
Avenues. A jitney will be available to transport visitors from house to
house. Advance-sale
tickets can be purchased for $30 starting May 1 at retail outlets
throughout South Orange and Maplewood, or online (purchase
tickets now). Tickets
purchased online can be picked up at Mountain Station beginning at 11:00 a.m. on the day of
the tour. Tickets
sold the day of the tour are $35. MPHDA members receive a $5 discount.

Designing
Kitchens for the Older Home
Visit
two kitchens in historic homes of the Montrose Park Historic
District.
Meet with kitchen designer Sharon Sherman of Thyme and Place Design as
she discusses the key elements of kitchen design and how to make your
kitchen match the character of your home. Bring photos of
your own
kitchen for possible commentary.
Class
size is limited to 15 people.

Tour of
Studio Printworks and Chambord Prints!
 
Dennis
Shah, President of Studio Printworks and Chambord Prints will provide a
guided tour of the company’s wall covering and design
facilities in
Hoboken. Studio Printworks was founded in 2005 and Chambord
Prints
circa 1955. Mr. Shah’s studio manufacturers contemporary and
historic
hand printed high end custom wall coverings for the design industry
including several designs for Scalamandre. For a preview of
the

where you will find examples from many well-known design magazines, the
2005 Chicago Show House, the 2005 San Francisco Show House, and even a
wall covering used in ABC’s Extreme Makeover.
During our return bus
ride, you will enjoy a gourmet boxed lunch catered by Crane’s
Delicatessen. Space is limited to 25 people, so reserve early. Our bus
will depart promptly from the Maplewood Community Pool Parking lot on
Boyden Avenue. Please let us know your lunch
preference: vegetarian
or meat. Register by the Adult School deadline to avoid disappointment.

Montrose
Park Family Fun Day
MPHDA
will host our annual Family Fun Day on Saturday, September 29, 2007,
from 11am to 3pm at Grove Park.
Our 2007 Family Fun Day includes live jazz, a magic show and puppet
shows, pony rides, crafts, face painting, bulb planting, bike
registration, a visit by the South Orange Fire Department’s
“Big
Truck”, games, picnicking, and more.
In the
event of rain, Family Fun Day will be moved to an indoor location also
on September 29, 2007.
