Montrose
in May Saturday, May 15, 2010 11am-4pm The Montrose Park Historic District Association (MPHDA) invites visitors to the “Montrose in May” Historic House Tour on Saturday, May 15th, 2010. The five participating Montrose in May homes will be open to the public from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm. ALL TICKETS BOUGHT ONLINE CAN BE PICKED UP AT MOUNTAIN STATION (Vose Avenue and Montrose Avenue) STARTING 10:30 AM, SATURDAY MAY 15, 2010. Naoma

that
offers visitor’s a wonderful opportunity to see late 19th and early
20th
century homes with stunning interior design and tremendous
architectural
detail, all set on large lots on gas-lit streets. We are proud to
showcase the
hard work of our hosts and members who meticulously restore and
beautify their
historic homes and continue to contribute to the integrity and
significance of
the Montrose Park historic district.” Tickets can be purchased on the
day of
the tour for $35. MPHDA
members $30 at all times. All visitors must
register at the historic Mountain Station train station to purchase
and/or pick
up their tickets, tour brochure and map.
Mountain Station is located at the intersection of
Montrose and Vose
Avenues in South Orange. NJ
Transit
offers hourly train service along the Morris & Essex Line from
Hoboken
terminal via Mountain Station or from NY Penn Station.
The rain-or-shine tour is self-guided. The Village of South Orange will provide complimentary jitney shuttle bus service to transport visitors through the district. Visitors are also invited to walk. Funds raised through 2010 Montrose in May contribute to the continued beautification of the district, preservation of the community's historic essence and the development of programs that encourage residents to maintain and preserve their unique homes. The Montrose Park Historic District is located in South Orange, NJ and features approximately 550 homes representing classic turn-of-the-19th and early-20th century architectural styles including Victorian, Colonial Revival, Queen Anne, Tudor and Shingle Style. |
