Eugene Connett Homestead
This palatial Victorian estate was home to Eugene Connett, a generous South Orange resident. Although the home is no longer standing, its carriage house still exists at the end of Connett Place. Circa 1890 Connett donated land at the corner of Scotland Road and Taylor Place for use as a public library on the condition that the sum of $7,500 be "bona fide subscribed for the construction of a library building." (Private collection)
