Marshall School
The Marshall School (named for James Marshall, member of the board of education and located in the Montrose Park neighborhood) was the first elementary school to be built in South Orange. It opened its doors in the fall of 1922 with 11 classrooms for K-6. Three additions ( in the 1950s, 1990s and 2003) reflected the growing population. Today Marshall School is home to students kindergarten through second grade. (courtesy South Orange Public Library).
